At Santiam Hospital & Clinics, we are always looking for ways to improve the quality of care we provide and to ensure that our patients have a positive experience. One way that we are doing this is through the implementation of a Meds-to-Beds program.

What is a Meds-to-Beds Program?

Meds-to-Beds is a program offered for patients admitted to our hospital, having outpatient surgery, or being seen in the Emergency Room. Prescriptions ordered by physicians are filled at our pharmacy and then delivered to the patient prior to discharge. This service eliminates the need for patients or family to have to wait at a pharmacy for prescriptions to be filled. The goal of this program is to provide efficient transition of care from hospital to home, reducing stress and increasing recovery.

The benefits of a Meds-to-Beds program go beyond convenience, however. By providing medications before discharging from the hospital, we are assured that patients are receiving vital medications needed for successful recovery. Additionally, Pharmacists use Meds-to-Beds as an opportunity to educate patients and family on appropriate medication administration and discuss any side effects that they may experience.

Meds-to-Beds offers numerous advantages to both hospitals and their patients; convenience, improved accuracy when prescribing medications, and a commitment toward sustainability in order to benefit everyone involved in the healthcare process.
