Lactation Information
Just gave birth at Santiam Hospital & Clinics? Inpatient lactation support is available in-person several days a week. You can expect to be visited and/or called by a lactation consultant during your inpatient visit. You’ll also get a follow up phone call following discharge. Outpatient lactation support is available by our lactation consultants as individual appointments. These can be scheduled days, weeks or months from delivery.
Expecting a baby and have questions about breastfeeding?
Come in for a prenatal breastfeeding consult! We’ll talk about the basics of milk production, typical newborn feeding behavior, the principles of a good latch, and other common concerns. First-time and experienced parents are welcome.
Just gave birth at the Family Birth Center?
While you’re still in the hospital, take advantage of one-on-one time with a lactation specialist. Getting support early can prevent many common breastfeeding and lactation challenges and provide a boost in confidence and motivation. Connect with us to ask your questions, share your concerns, and schedule follow-up lactation support.
Experiencing challenges with breast/chest feeding or lactation at home?
Outpatient visits are an opportunity to improve your breastfeeding skills, build your confidence, and troubleshoot any issues that arise. Get help with latching, milk supply, pumping, bottle feeding, and a range of other infant feeding concerns.
