An Important Message From Maggie
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
After 33 wonderful years with Santiam, I’m writing to share that I’m stepping away this fall. My last day as CEO will be November 1.
Caring for our community
When I joined Santiam in 1993, I could not have imagined how deeply this organization and the people we serve would shape my life.
What resonated with me from the beginning still does today: the belief that people deserve excellent care close to home, from people who know and care about the communities they serve.
Over the years, I’ve come to know and we’ve named that commitment the “Santiam Difference.”
It exists because of the extraordinary people who care for our patients every day, and because generations of families throughout the Santiam Canyon have placed their trust in us.
You have turned to Santiam in moments of joy, uncertainty, loss and need. You stood with us through the pandemic and devastating wildfires. Your trust and support have made it possible for Santiam to serve this community for generations, and being part of that work has meant more to me than I can adequately express.
Looking ahead
Healthcare is changing rapidly, and smaller community health systems face significant challenges. I strongly believe our affiliation with Salem Health is the right path forward for Santiam and the people we serve.
I’m optimistic about Santiam’s future. I also believe this next chapter calls for new leadership, and that the right thing for me to do is step away from my role as CEO.
While I am leaving my position, I am not leaving this community. This is home, and the relationships I have built here remain incredibly important to me.
It has been an extraordinary privilege to serve this community for 33 years.
Thank you for placing your trust in Santiam and for allowing us to care for you and the people you love.
With gratitude,
Maggie
