Santiam Hospital & Clinics has a full service laboratory staffed with:
3 Technical Assistants
7 Phlebotomist/laboratory assistants
Monday – Friday 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM
Saturday & Sunday 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM

Education: Bachelor of Science in Biology from Molecular Western Oregon University and Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science from OIT/OHSU
Credentials: Medical Laboratory Scientist through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
Medical Interests: Leadership, Health Equity

Aaron M Kirsch, BS MLS (ASAP)
Laboratory Manager
Education: Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Chemistry minor from Eastern Oregon University and Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Oregon Health & Science University.
Experience: Santiam Hospital & Clinics for 20+ years
Credentials: Manager of the Laboratory with focused areas in Microbiology, Lab Information Systems, and Hematology
Medical Interests: Microbiology and the implementation of technologies that can improve quality of care for our patients.
About Me: Aaron enjoys spending time with her family and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest hiking with her dogs.
Kathleen Ahle, BS MLS (ASCP)
Laboratory Manager
Education: Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Oregon State University and attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for Clinical Laboratory Science, certified through ASCP
Experience: Santiam Hospital & Clinics for 15 years
Interests: Strives to improve all parts of the Laboratory from pre-analytical to post-analytical.
About Me: Kathleen spends time with her husband, three children, enjoys reading and relaxing.

The Laboratory performs over 400,000 tests per year for the broad medical community; including specimens collected by local medical clinics, outpatients referred from medical providers, Hospitalized patients and Emergency Department patients.
