Santiam Hospital Chaplain Services

The volunteer chaplaincy program at Santiam Hospital consists of local ministerial association used to serve in the capacity of chaplains for many years, each volunteer taking a week to serve. The various ministers from the surrounding communities have been the core of the chaplaincy program throughout the years at Santiam Hospital. Chaplains currently meet on a quarterly basis for training and conducting business at Santiam Hospital.

The service provided by the chaplaincy program is one of encouragement and spiritual support for the patients and their loved ones. As for ministry to hospital staff, the chaplains are available to assist them according to their need in the same way as they would the patients and their loved ones.

The chaplain’s week of ministry begins on Sunday and runs through Saturday of their assigned week. The chaplains endeavor to do their visitation a minimum of three days a week, but are on call for emergency requests as needed. Stayton area chaplains provide back-up if the on call chaplain cannot be contacted. In times of major crisis several of the chaplains may be called in to assist those in need.
